When the music calls

Monash University auditorium

The stage is set

Lights fade creating shadowy figures

moving between empty chairs

Cello bows rise in unison

while the viola brings forth it’s inner voice

The soft melody pulls

repressed emotions form past loss

whilst the song of the rhythm stick exposes your true nature

from my mind

Resounding drumming resonates

through your spirit world

and into my soul

Escape is a vanishing idea

with reality questioned

Age has worn my whole being

the music draws me forward

I surrender to the unknown embrace

The old school desk

weathered and dark in tint

faded memories

in  carved initials on wooden lids

mask secret lovers messages

left behind

I love the Australian bush. I also love our Botanic Gardens especially the one in Canberra plus the café there has great coffee and cake! For those people contemplating a trip to Oz make sure you get to see our wonderful gardens – that is when travel is permitted.

Take care of yourself and others.

The Artist

Irrelevant but connected time draws us close

to a mindful revelation that perhaps time

is all but some sort of cartoon image

and we are all caught

in the artists’ bare hand

Breaking

I think I’d like to be a wombat

living underground under a tree

in these uncertain times

in solitude

in isolation

I could go into hibernation

sleep like a bear

sleep the winter months away

with no knowledge of the troubles in the world – without breaking, without loss

I would awake in spring

after the storm

with calm restored

A waking moment

Tootgarook foreshore, Victoria, Australia  December 2019

Running in a nightmare

macrabre feelings of the end that may come

The faces of the dead becoming real

not wanting to look back

in the event that

doubting reality can be reached

Then the moment of release

When waking from the dream

brings the pleasure of knowing the defeat is behind you
