Cliff face

St Andrews beach, Rye, Victoria, Australia –  surf beach

White  peaked waves

over riding the blue – green depths

of the vastness of the incoming Indian Ocean

crashing against the multitude of rock formations

scattered near the shoreline

Give me a sense of being within limits of human existence

Without the breaking influence of punctuated noise

The tingling sensations of single mineral particles

and ocean spray spread across my skin

with the taste of the sea on my lips

Breathing in

as I might when I took the first breath

Cloud formations stimulate

my imagination

teasing out thoughts of entwining air drifts

and faraway travel

I am in no hurry to enter the dragon’s land

But I must go

Only to daydream

of moments by the ocean

Back to where you are comfortable

where I see chaos

and you see symmetry

The diffracted light and sound

my constant companion

until I can breathe again

Australian Indigenous Smoking Ceremony

Smoking ceremoney

I was fortunate to be invited to an Indigenous smoking ceremony to celebrate Living Culture celebrating the incorporation as a NGO.  The ceremony was performed by Adam Maggenis to protect those there against the “spears from other tribes”. It was just before dusk (sorry for the brightness of the setting sun – used my iPhone). It was organised by Lionel Lauch – Living Culture – the Indigenous caretaker of the land at a place called “The Briars” on the Mornington Peninsula.

The smell of the burning native plants representing Mother, Family and the Earth was intoxicating and gave each person there a distinct connection to the natural environment surrounding us.

Later the famous Archie Roach who is of the stolen generation sang a few songs –
