Savoir-faire

Flickering light dances across the flat surface of water.

My focus drawn toward crystal shaped shades.

A low white wash rolls closer to the shoreline.

I watch as the sand near my feet draws the wash downward

Downward

Into the unknown

Disappearing to the inner world of a micro life.

The sky an immaculate blue

Superiority in size

Envelops my soul

The time has come to let go

Of long processed attitudes

And the predilection to self-harm the mental state

Feigning strength to overcome internal weakness

Hiding the truth from those close at hand

My savoir-faire

My adaptability in crisis situations

My strength

Is in the mask that I wear

A mask that I now remove

To reveal the inner mechanisms

Here I am exposed

Apprehensive

Of the external world

But not defeated
